Parent Support & Networking

img4-lDo you have a child with special needs? Do you feel that no one REALLY understands your circumstances? Would you love an evening out with people who do understand? Then you need to attend the local PARENT’S SUPPORT & NETWORKING GROUP. We meet once a month, usually on the last Thursday of each month in the MACL Boardroom, from 7:00 pm to approx. 9:00 pm. We share our joys and our frustrations, enjoy much laughter and even shed a few tears along the way. We discuss our role as advocates in the schools that our children attend, network regarding mandates included in our governments and learn about the various community supports and programs available for our kids. We even enjoy a speaker on occasion who shares a topic of interest. All parents of adults who have developmental disabilities, children and youth who have developmental disabilities and/or extra support needs who are recieving MACL services are welcome to attend.

We have lived away from our family in Ontario for thirteen years and have burdened the struggle of raising our child who has special needs plus two other children with ADHD all on our own. The Support Group has been a definite highlight of our month over the last couple of years and has made an impact in our marriage and family life. We even couple it with dinner out and it makes for a great respite evening! We have made lifelong friends and no longer feel alone on this challenging journey.
