Qualities of a MACL Employee

Qualities and Characteristics we are looking for in potential employees:

  • Empathy and compassion: Everyone has a story and we are looking for people who are genuine in their ability to respond with tenderness and warmth as they consider experiences from the other person's point of view rather than their own.
  • Patience: Sometimes those we support take longer to complete tasks, or need a high degree of patience and support as they work towards a goal. Sometimes people may not follow your instruction or advice. We are looking for people who can be patient to let the person do things themselves rather than take over or and lose their cool
  • Cheery demeanor: A smile and from a friendly, personable person really makes a difference to those we support.
  • Problem solver and motivator: Those we work with look to our staff for support in overcoming barriers, motivation and encouragement. A positive attitude and encouragement are traits we look for.
  • Flexibility: Community service is not always a Monday-to-Friday, nine-to-five job. While we may have some jobs with those hours, we are most often looking for people who can work a variety of shifts with some irregular hours. Careers with us often suit those who find themselves bored with routine schedules.
  • Professionalism: We look to hire people who recognize the need to maintain professional boundaries rather than oversharing their own life stories.
If you feel this describes you, we invite you to view our current opportunities and apply. View Current Opportunities
